Intelligent Energy Management Company GridPoint Appoints Greg Bartolomei Vice President of Engineering
An expert in electromechanical industry with experience at Ciena and the Engineering Technology Center, Bartolomei will drive development of intelligent energy management products
WASHINGTON - July 20, 2005 - GridPoint, Inc., a provider of intelligent energy management (IEM) appliances for the home and small business, today announced the appointment of Greg Bartolomei to Vice President of Engineering. In that role, Mr. Bartolomei will be responsible for product development and quality assurance of all GridPoint products, which provide traditional and renewable energy users with instant, automatic backup power as well as a superior way to integrate alternative energy sources.
Mr. Bartolomei has over 16 years experience in the electromechanical industry in roles ranging across research, product development and consulting. Previously, Mr. Bartolomei was director of the Systems Integration and Verification Group for Ciena Corporation, a leading optical communications company delivering highly reliable, industry leading products. While at Ciena, he was responsible for the integration and verification for all electrical, mechanical and optical hardware as well as embedded real-time and network management software.

Prior to Ciena, Mr. Bartolomei worked for the Engineering Technology Center (ETC), a consulting firm specializing in national defense issues. At ETC, he served as a consultant, providing analysis of active and passive control technologies to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the Office of Naval Research. Prior to ETC, Mr. Bartolomei provided research and analysis to the U.S. Navy for Radix Systems, which provided computer modeling, data analysis and high-speed data acquisition system design.
Mr. Bartolomei holds master's degrees in electrical engineering and mechanical engineering from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from the University of Maryland.
