GridPoint Connect™ Featured in First Platinum-rated LEED for Homes Model

LivingHomes' Model is One of Three LEED for Homes Pilot Projects Using GridPoint's Award-winning Intelligent Energy Management Product

WASHINGTON - September 6, 2006 - GridPoint, Inc.™, a provider of intelligent energy management (IEM) products, today announced that the award-winning GridPoint Connect™ is featured in the first residential project in the country to attain the highest rating from the U.S. Green Building Council's (USGBC) new LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for Homes pilot program.

Built by LivingHomes, the Platinum-rated model home's energy will be produced and managed by an on-site photovoltaic system created by Permacity, an environmental energy solutions provider, using GridPoint Connect.  GridPoint's turnkey, grid-tied intelligent energy management product integrates renewable energy, provides clean, silent backup power, and automatically executes intelligent decisions to increase energy reliability and efficiency. The model home's anticipated energy use is 80 percent more efficient than a conventional residence of similar size, which also qualifies it as an Energy Star® home.

"We are delighted to be a part of the highest-rated LEED home in the country," said Peter L. Corsell, President and CEO of GridPoint.  "LEED has revolutionized building methodologies in the commercial sector, and it is gratifying to see these standards take root in the residential market."

In addition to the LivingHomes model, GridPoint Connect serves as the hub for solar technologies in two other, yet unrated LEED for Homes pilot projects: the BASF Better Home, Better Planet Initiative: Near Zero Energy House in Paterson, N.J., and Ultimate Home Design magazine's Optimum Performance Home™ in Sonoma County, Calif.

Named winner of Green Builder® Magazine's 2006 Most Innovative Product Award, GridPoint Connect is also featured in Los Angeles Magazine's DesignHouse 2005: The Green Home. The elegant appliance, which combines advanced battery storage, power electronics and an Intel® Pentium®-based computer, can help reduce energy costs by 20 to 30 percent and qualifies for tax credits allowed for commercial and private solar-related equipment.
