VEHICLE DATA POWERS LEARNING
GridPoint’s vehicle data application is a proven, state-of-the-art solution for capturing and securely uploading performance data from electric vehicles and charging infrastructure. Automated processes, dynamic user-interfaces and a flexible communication architecture have made this the answer for anyone interested in plug-in vehicle testing. Benefits include:
Advanced Analysis – Utility grade AC energy metering and GPS location data allows for more complex vehicle testing and evaluation, including fuel and energy consumption and charging behavior based on location.
Improved Data – Vehicle data is automatically logged and securely uploaded, increasing reliability and enabling real-time evaluation.
Increased Flexibility – Multiple electric vehicles/conversion kits and several methods of secure communication are supported, maximizing available options for vehicle testing.
Easy Support – Software updates and data configuration changes are made remotely, minimizing staff involvement in vehicle data collection and administration.
Enduring Investment – Our vehicle data solution easily extends to implement smart charging and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) field trials. No additional hardware is necessary; a second software license is all that's required.
The Proven Solution
Installed in hundreds of plug-in vehicles across North America, GridPoint’s vehicle data solution is used by the Department of Energy’s Idaho National Laboratory (INL), the lead lab for field performance and life testing of advanced technology vehicles.
The INL, having tested, used and collected data via five different manufacturers’ data logger models on four different vehicle technologies, determined GridPoint’s data logging solution to be the most reliable, accurate, timely and cost competitive for onboard data collection—typically enabling a 100% data collection rate.
In addition to real-world deployments with the INL, the vehicle data solution enables performance evaluation by National Renewable Energy Laboratory and UC Davis as well as by Duke Energy, Progress Energy, Florida Power & Light, Madison Gas & Electric, Buckeye Power, Austin Energy and dozens of others.
