GridPoint SmartGrid Platform Products

Energy Storage Integration

GridPoint Energy Manager in conjunction with distributed energy storage technologies enables utilities to discharge stored power during peak periods and automatically recharge from highly-efficient baseload generation during off-peak periods.

This innovative approach offers a clean, cost-effective option compared to peaking power plants and pumped hydro storage systems. Utilities can easily scale peak power needs without the regulatory, environmental and "time-to-build" hurdles associated with building new power plants, as well as optimize existing baseload generation assets and renewable energy sources such as off-peak wind.

The platform's integration of distributed energy storage technologies also provides backup power in locations where it is installed. Utilities can offer backup power services to residential and commercial customers in conjunction with demand response programs to increase enrollment and customer satisfaction.

With today's significant investments and advancements in energy storage technologies, such as fuel cells and super capacitors, the platform allows utilities to easily integrate these technologies when they become commercially viable.
