GridPoint Control Console
The GridPoint Control Console, located in the utility control room, offers utilities unprecedented direct control of distributed energy technologies to manage peak periods. Resource planners can manage demand and supply, resulting in an optimal utilization of grid assets and allowing utilities to maintain low rates while earning a return. Utilities can easily manage capacity, energy, and reliability - including advanced uses such as VAR support on feeder lines.
Unlike any other technology, the GridPoint Control Console provides utilities with real-time visibility to predict how much curtailable load or available stored capacity can be leveraged during peak periods. Additionally, utilities can generate historical reports to identify trends and predict future peak demand by comparing periods year over year.
The GridPoint Control Console enables utilities to execute real-time or scheduled events as well as manage load types (e.g. air conditioners, pool pumps) or distributed energy storage technologies (e.g. advanced batteries, fuel cells) either in aggregate or by substation, feeder or individual customer.
The GridPoint Control Console does not replace any existing SCADA/EM Systems, but rather supplements them. The GridPoint Operations Center can also be interfaced directly into the utility's existing real-time control and monitoring systems to allow dynamic optimization of resources. Commands are sent via a utility's preferred communications method including standard phone lines, broadband Ethernet connections, two-way paging systems, or advanced meters with two-way communications.
Utilities receive detailed verification reports in multiple views including data on how much load was curtailed or stored energy was discharged either in aggregate or by substation, feeder or individual customer.
Additionally, the GridPoint Control Console allows utilities to optimize efficient baseload generation assets by scheduling distributed energy storage technologies to recharge during off-peak periods.
