• Demand response programs based on advanced metering and dynamic pricing could reduce peak load in the United States by at least 5% over the next few years for a savings of approximately $3 billion per year in electricity costs. The discounted present value of these savings would be $35 billion over the next 20 years.

• Demand response participants would save about $9 million to $26 million for energy annually and another $73 million for capacity charges. Energy prices would be reduced by at least $57 million to $182 million annually in the U.S. Mid-Atlantic region.

• Estimated annual spending for demand response solutions "alone" is $4.2 billion annually. EPRI estimates that utilization of demand response resources could increase to 45,000 megawatts through increased penetration of programs and additional product and service offerings.
