John Cannon

Solutions Engineer 

John Cannon is a Solutions Engineer at GridPoint with a strong background in industrial control systems and automation technologies. He began his career as a Project Engineer, where he focused on designing, programming, and commissioning Industrial Control Systems. Throughout his career, he transitioned to working with major automation suppliers, providing consultation to other engineers on creating solutions using automation technologies. 

In the past, Cannon developed large-scale power monitoring applications for data centers as part of Schneider Electric’s Energy Solutions Group. He also contributed to the development of drives and automation solutions while working with Rockwell Automation’s Local Solutions Centers group. 

In 2022, he joined GridPoint driven by his passion for helping companies utilize technology to achieve cost savings, reach sustainability goals, and contribute to Grid Interactive solutions that benefit all. Cannon is an energy management system expert, with specialized expertise in sustainability, smart building controls, and energy optimization technology.  

Cannon holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from MidAmerican Nazarene University and an Associate of Applied Science in Electronics Technology from DeVry Institute of Technology.
